Every quarter you set common goals and support the team in achieving them. Working closely with Android group members, gathering feedback in 1:1 meetings and helping them grow.
Wondering what your division of responsibilities will look like? As a group leader, you allocate your time yourself according to your capabilities. On standard, you have 0.25 fte for topics that require commitment as a leader and 0.75 fte for commercial work.
Psst… You don’t match all of the items on our requirements list? Don’t hesitate to apply anyway – don’t let the confidence gap or imposter syndrome get in the way – there’s a chance you’re more amazing than you think you are!

2. Answer a few technical questions during an initial phone call with Android team

As Android developers, we love using Kotlin and do it whenever we can (well, as long as it’s an appropriate tool for the job). Writing unit tests is part of our daily workflow, not an afterthought. We’re also in the process of applying the same approach to functional testing.
We host our repositories on GitHub. Pull requests get reviewed by product team members. You can review other projects and platforms too! Many projects has Bitrise CI hooks attached so actions such as pushes and pull requests trigger various automated workflows. We have a bunch of test devices in our office that are hooked up to a test farm (OpenSTF), which means we can use them remotely as well.
We don’t stick to a solution if it’s not working – we use tools to fit our needs, not to control us. Technical and architectural decisions are all up to you and your development team.
The hierarchy in our organization is flat. This means that we do things “from the bottom up” – there is no need to go through successive levels of management to solve a simple problem.
When working on a project, the team includes other Android developers, other platform developers, a QA engineer, a designer and a scrum master. Typically, the team sits in one room (no open space!), which fosters excellent collaboration. We work in Scrum in 1-2 week sprints (depending on the project), but we use it as a framework, not a process, which means we adapt it to the needs of the project. As developers, we try not to do Agile, but to be Agile. We keep our product backlogs in Jira and our documentation in Confluence. We also use Google Suite, Trello and Slack.
We also have weekly Android team meetings where we discuss both technical and non-technical. If you want to attend iOS or web team meetings, you can do so. We also do joint meetings from time to time if we want to discuss general development topics.
P.S. Do you know someone who might be a great part of our team? Please refer them to our career’s website or e-mail: [email protected] for more details.
