Every new app release carries some risk, regressions, performance issues, or bugs that hit end users directly. Even a well-built product can lose stability as it grows in features, platforms, and integrations.
That’s exactly why we created the Quality Audit Team (QAT): an independent team dedicated to a thorough quality assessment of mobile and web apps, both before launch and after major releases. Our goal is to help project teams ship stable, secure, and polished products while cutting the risk of production issues.
Who we are
The Quality Audit Team is a specialized, independent group focused on standardizing regression processes, making them repeatable, and giving clients clear, transparent quality reports.
We support project teams by:
- providing an independent quality assessment of the application
- identifying high-risk areas
- catching functional regressions and performance issues
- analyzing app stability
- recommending improvements to the QA and development process
Because we work independently, we can look at the product the way a real user would, and catch issues that often go unnoticed in day-to-day development.
Our work is guided by objectivity, repeatability, and a focus on the real user experience. Every audit follows a standardized process, so the results are comparable, measurable, and genuinely useful for business and product decisions.
We don’t just hunt for bugs. We also look at risk, performance, and stability, as well as how the issues we find affect the user experience. That means we deliver more than a list of problems — we provide concrete recommendations to support the product’s ongoing development, quality improvements, and process optimization.
When is a QAT audit worth it? 6 use cases
We especially recommend an audit when:
- Your app is getting ready for a production release. Before rolling out a new version, it’s worth confirming that key business processes work correctly and that recent changes haven’t introduced unexpected regressions.
- Your project sees a lot of regressions after releases. If bugs keep showing up in areas that used to work fine, an audit helps pinpoint the root cause and flag where extra test coverage is needed.
- Your team needs an independent quality assessment. After months of working on a product, teams often lose their fresh perspective. An independent audit retains the user’s-eye view and surfaces issues that may have been overlooked during regular development.
- You’re seeing performance issues or instability. Long screen load times, choppy performance, high memory usage, or frequent crashes can hurt both the user experience and your business metrics.
- Your app needs to meet WCAG accessibility requirements. This matters most for products aimed at a broad audience, the public sector, or organizations with formal digital accessibility requirements.
- You need to raise the bar on QA before scaling. As the number of features and project teams grows, so does the risk of quality issues. An audit helps assess your current processes and pinpoint improvements in testing, monitoring, and quality management.
Scope: What we offer
Our team tailors the scope of each audit to the project’s needs. We offer both a full review of the entire application and audits focused on specific functional areas.
Depending on your goals, we can run:
- Full regression testing, checking the most important features and business processes across the whole app, to confirm that recent changes haven’t broken anything that used to work.
- Targeted feature audits with a deep dive into specific modules or flows, such as login, registration, payments, the shopping cart, or checkout.
- Performance audits, identifying issues with app responsiveness, screen load times, memory usage, and network communication.
- Accessibility audits (WCAG) assessing how well the app meets digital accessibility requirements for users with different needs.
This flexible approach means clients can choose either a comprehensive quality assessment of the entire product, or a tighter focus on one specific problem or business area.
I’ve worked with the audit team on two different products, under two different types of scope agreements (fixed price and T&M). In both cases, the team noticeably increased the number of issues we caught before they ever reached production, which strengthened our reputation with clients through more stable releases. From a planning standpoint, having to account for the audit team’s work also gave me, as a PO, an extra layer of assurance that all dependencies would be resolved on time and that the team could deliver a stable version on schedule. Of course, that didn’t always go perfectly for various reasons — but even then, the QAT team stepped in with a helping hand, flexibility, and support.
Types of testing we perform
Functional testing:
- user scenarios
- interface behavior
- app state management (online/offline)
- backend and API integrations
- business logic and data flows
Non-functional testing:
- app performance
- overall responsiveness
- screen load times
- CPU, RAM, and battery usage
- performance and responsiveness under poor network conditions
- compatibility across different devices and screen sizes
Exploratory testing and smoke/sanity tests. We verify the stability of core business functions and actively hunt for defects that fall outside standard test documentation.
Accessibility audits. We check the app’s compliance with the international WCAG 2.2 standard at levels A and AA, including:
- color contrast and interface scaling
- accessibility of UI elements
- compatibility with TalkBack (Android) and VoiceOver (iOS)
- clarity of messages and app states
Backend/API testing.
- API contract verification
- checking server response accuracy
- data validation testing
- error and timeout handling analysis
Web and IoT audits. We also support web projects and IoT solutions, including testing carried out in real-world field conditions.
How working with QAT works
Our process is transparent and structured:
- You reach out and we agree on the audit scope
- We estimate the work and set a timeline
- You provide the build and project documentation
- Our independent QA team runs the tests
- We report critical issues as we find them
- We deliver a final report with our recommendations
Depending on what each client needs, we can work from full project documentation or take an exploratory approach that draws on our testers’ experience.
How we report issues
For every issue we find, we include:
- priority and severity level
- exact steps to reproduce
- video or screenshots
- logs and other technical details
- recommendations for fixing it
That gives development teams fast, clear feedback so they can roll out fixes quickly.
Why should you work with QAT?
The audit team helped us confirm the app was ready for launch by checking its stability across a wide range of devices and operating systems. The QA audit team helps catch critical gaps and UX bugs — documented in detail and prioritized — before launch, which reduces the risk of app rejection from the App Store and Google Play. The recommendations in the report make it easy to see what needs fixing first.
Independent quality assessment. An outside perspective is more effective at catching issues that get overlooked in day-to-day development.
Fast feedback. We report critical issues as we find them, which helps cut the risk of release delays.
Data- and metrics-driven. We track things like:
- number of regressions
- app stability, including crashes, errors, and unexpected behaviors
- how technical debt is affecting product quality
Support for development teams. QAT acts as a partner to development and QA, helping raise product quality and the stability of future releases.
What will an audit do for your project?
Working with QAT delivers real business benefits:
- catching critical issues earlier
- fewer regressions after releases
- fewer production hotfixes
- better app stability
- a better experience for end users
- faster feedback for development teams
- more control over release quality
Every audit wraps up with a detailed report that includes:
- a summary of the testing performed
- a list of issues found
- defect statistics
- a list of critical blockers
- a breakdown of devices used
- recommendations for further product/app development
Take care of your product’s quality with Quality Audit Team
In the project where I work as PO, the audit team turned out to be essential for keeping a constant read on the product’s status and bringing in an outside, objective view — both on the technical side of how the app runs and on functionality, and how well it meets our clients’ business needs.
The Quality Audit Team helps teams deliver more stable, secure, and polished products — before problems ever reach your end users.
