How a single loyalty currency can unify millions of customers across brands
-
Challenge
Norwegian Airlines moves over 20 million passengers a year; Strawberry Hotels welcomes over 9 million guests. Two of the Nordics’ largest travel brands wanted to join forces behind a single new loyalty currency – one that would unlock more value for both businesses and their customers.
The problem was fragmentation: scattered touchpoints and separate customer experiences that needed to become one seamless mobile product, capable of migrating millions of existing members without friction.

Solution
Norwegian and Strawberry appointed Apadmi – the group Droids On Roids is part of – to bring the proposition, Spenn, to life. We handled design, development, testing, and delivery of the app, built on Flutter and integrated with Braze and Contentful to power a fast, accessible experience.
Customers accumulate points through purchases and bookings with Spenn’s partners, then spend them on future flights, hotels, or alternative experiences across the merchant network. We built a dynamic home screen that tailors offers to preferences and purchase history, and family accounts that let groups pool points toward shared experiences like vacations.
Under the hood, the architecture handles the complexity of integrating multiple loyalty programs – real-time balance updates and the migration of more than 7 million users, who can connect their Norwegian and Strawberry accounts in a few steps and start earning immediately.

Results
Spenn consolidates multiple loyalty propositions into one experience, available in five languages – Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, and English – for wide regional reach. Launched on November 19th, 2024, it shot straight to the top of Apple’s regional charts to become the most popular app in the Nordics.
As new partners join – Reitan Retail recently added another 2 million customers – the ecosystem keeps growing, with the ambition of becoming the leading loyalty currency for the Nordics and beyond.
